Cupra's Fast Wagon Lands in WA: Leon VZx Sportstourer Priced at $67,490
The 245kW all-wheel drive performance wagon arrives in Australia in September 2026 — here's what WA buyers need to know.

If you've been waiting for a genuinely fast wagon that doesn't require you to choose between school pickup duty and a proper drive on the Great Eastern Highway, the 2026 Cupra Leon VZx Sportstourer is worth your attention. Cupra has confirmed Australian pricing at $67,490 before on-road costs, with deliveries scheduled for September 2026.

What You're Getting Under the Bonnet
The VZx Sportstourer shares its powertrain with the Volkswagen Golf R — a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 245kW and 420Nm, sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Cupra claims 0–100km/h in 4.8 seconds, which is brisk by any measure.
What sets the VZx apart from the Golf R is torque vectoring that can direct up to 50 per cent of power to the rear axle — and then send 100 per cent of that to a single rear wheel. In plain terms, that means the car actively drives itself around corners rather than just dragging you through them. The same system features on the latest Golf R and Audi S3, which are priced from $71,990 and $78,800 before on-roads respectively. The Leon VZx undercuts both.

Practical Enough for Perth Life
For WA buyers who do more than commute — weekend trips to Margaret River, runs up to the Pilbara for work, or just the weekly Costco shop — the boot space matters. With rear seats in place, the Leon VZx Sportstourer offers 620 litres of cargo room. That's roughly equivalent to a Hyundai Tucson or a Mercedes-Benz GLE, in a car that also does 0–100 in under five seconds.
The closest rival on value is the Skoda Octavia RS wagon at $64,990 drive-away — yes, it's cheaper and has slightly more boot space — but it only makes 195kW, runs front-wheel drive only, and won't pull away from traffic on Roe Highway with anything like the same conviction.

Options to Consider Before You Order
Cupra offers the VZx Sportstourer with an Extreme Pack for an additional $7,600. That gets you upgraded Akebono brakes, matrix LED headlights with graphic projection, and Sabelt sports bucket seats for the driver and front passenger. If you're spending $67k on a performance wagon, the brakes alone make a reasonable case for ticking that box.
Beyond that, a panoramic sunroof adds $2,000 and matte paint is available for $2,650. Neither is essential, but both are the kind of thing you'll either care deeply about or not at all.
WA buyers should factor in on-road costs on top of the base price — in Perth that typically means stamp duty, dealer delivery, and CTP insurance, which can add several thousand dollars to the final figure depending on the dealer and how you finance the car.

Ordering is open now through the Cupra Australia website, with deliveries beginning September 2026. If the Leon VZx Sportstourer is on your radar, locking in early gives you a reasonable shot at being near the front of the queue.
