Genesis GV60 Magma Joins the Nürburgring Taxi Fleet — and It's on Sale in WA

If you've ever wanted to be hurled around the world's most famous racetrack as a passenger, Genesis has just made that slightly more attainable — and the car doing the hurling is one you can actually buy in Perth.

The 478kW Genesis GV60 Magma has joined the brand's Nordschleife Track Taxi program in Germany, slotting alongside the existing G70 sports sedans that launched the service back in 2024. Since then, nearly 3,000 passengers have ridden in those G70s across 1,300 laps — roughly 27,080 kilometres of Germany's iconic 20.832km circuit.

What the GV60 Magma brings to the 'Ring

The GV60 Magma is no softened-up SUV wearing a badge. It produces 478kW and 790Nm, sprints from 0–100km/h in 3.4 seconds, and tops out at 265km/h. For context, that's considerably quicker than almost anything you'd encounter between Perth and Fremantle — or on the long stretches heading out toward Kalgoorlie.

As a Track Taxi, a single co-pilot seat costs around €140 (approximately $229), with an extra guest seat adding €40 ($65). Riding in the G70 starts at €120 ($197). Not cheap, but then neither is a speeding fine on the Mitchell Freeway.

Under the skin, the GV60 Magma shares its 84kWh battery pack, electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD), Virtual Gear Shift, and Drift Mode with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N — two cars that have already built a strong reputation as serious performance EVs. Genesis has taken that same platform and wrapped it in a premium package aimed squarely at buyers who want something a little more distinctive in the driveway.

What it costs in WA

The 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma is already on sale in Australia, priced from $130,000 plus on-road costs. That puts it roughly $40,000 above the entry-level GV60 Advance, and about $15,000 ahead of the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N it shares running gear with.

For WA buyers, factor in stamp duty, CTP insurance, and registration on top of that drive-away figure when you're budgeting. The premium over the Hyundai alternatives is real, but so is the difference in interior quality and brand positioning — Genesis is pitching this firmly at buyers stepping out of European luxury marques.

The GV60 Magma is the first model under Genesis's new Magma performance sub-brand, so expect more to follow. Whether you're after a rapid daily driver around the suburbs or something with genuine weekend credentials on a track day at Barbagallo, the specs here are hard to argue with. The Nürburgring turn is just a very dramatic way of proving the point.
