Jeep Compass Gone from Australian Showrooms — What WA Buyers Should Know

If you've been eyeing off a Jeep Compass, you've missed the window. Stock has dried up across Australia, and Jeep has officially "paused" the model — which in practice means it's gone, at least for now. The Compass page has been pulled from the Jeep Australia website entirely.

For WA buyers who liked the idea of a small SUV with a Jeep badge — something capable enough for a weekend run to the Wheatbelt or the South West, without the bulk of a Wrangler — this leaves a real gap.

What's Left in the Jeep Lineup?

The Compass exit follows the axing of the Grand Cherokee last April, after right-hand drive production ended. Before that, the Cherokee was cut in 2022. What remains is a pretty thin lineup: the Avenger light electric SUV, the Gladiator dual-cab ute, and the Wrangler.

That's it. No small SUV, no medium SUV, no large SUV beyond the Wrangler. For a brand that built its name on practical, go-anywhere vehicles, it's a strange place to land.

The sales numbers tell their own story. Through the first five months of 2025, Jeep has delivered just 337 vehicles across all models nationally — down 63.1 per cent on the same period last year. The Compass itself managed only 17 sales in that time. In 2022, it shifted 1862 units. The slide has been steep.

Is There Any Good News on the Horizon?

Jeep has confirmed a third-generation Compass is coming — launched in Europe last year with electric power options — with an expected Australian arrival in the second half of 2026. Whether that timeline holds is another question; the company hasn't confirmed if it's still on track.

Beyond that, parent company Stellantis has flagged two new models developed in partnership with Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng, built as plug-in hybrids, EVs, or extended-range electric vehicles. Production is slated for 2027, with exports to various global markets including Australia potentially on the cards.

"We're excited about the opportunities presented through Stellantis' collaboration with Dongfeng and Tata, particularly for markets in APAC," a Stellantis Australia spokesperson said.

There's also the possibility of India-sourced models entering the mix further down the track.

What Should WA Buyers Do Right Now?

If you were seriously considering the Compass, the small SUV segment is actually one of the most competitive in Australia at the moment. The Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi ASX, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson all offer solid alternatives — and with WA's long highway stretches and regional driving demands, there are compelling choices with better parts availability and dealer support across Perth and regional centres.

For anyone who specifically wants a Jeep for off-road ability — think Gibb River Road, the Pilbara, or Kimberley tracks — the Wrangler remains the real deal. The Gladiator is worth a look if you need tray space alongside that capability.

But if you were after an affordable, everyday Jeep for suburban Perth or weekend trips down south, you'll need to wait until at least late 2026. And given how this brand has been tracking lately, it pays to keep your options open.
